Traditionally, yoga was taught on a one-on-one basis. In this format, the teacher can give you extra attention and tailor the practice to suit your individual needs and goals.
You might benefit from a private yoga class if any of the following apply to you:
- You are new to yoga
- You don’t have the time to make it to a studio yoga class
- You are uncomfortable attending studio yoga classes
- You are recovering from an injury or illness
Before the first meeting, a phone consultation takes place to work out what your particular needs might be. The first session will include a 15-minute physical analysis. Lessons will generally include yoga poses (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), guided meditation, and a deep relaxation. There will also be time for discussion on how to extend what you’ve learned on the yoga mat into daily life.
Lessons are generally one hour, but can vary on request.
Rates start at $75/hour for private one-on-one. Gift certificates available.
Lessons can take place in the comfort of your own home, office, or outdoors. Alternatively, Sophie can arrange to meet at a studio.
